Cape Town Shortlisted for the Food System Vision Prize

Cape Town’s submission to the Food System Vision Prize, “Resilient Food System Governance in Cape Town”, was chosen as one of 79 semi-finalists from 1,317 submitted world-wide. The SA Urban Food & Farming Trust was a partner in developing the vision, along with project leader, ICLEI Africa, The African Centre for Cities (UCT), The City of Cape Town, the Department of the Premier in the Western Cape Government, and Pinpoint Sustainability.

The next round will require further engagement with diverse stakeholders in the food system as well as refinement and detailing of the vision and the path to realising it. Funded by the Rockefeller Foundation, the 10 selected finalists will each be eligible for up to $200,000 in grant money to make their vision a reality.
