We are excited to announce the release of our 2024 Annual Report, a reflection of the progress we’ve made over the past year in transforming urban food systems, fostering resilient communities, and championing sustainable practices.
The report highlights our achievements, including supporting nearly 1,000 farmers across the Cape Flats and hosting our 6th annual Food Indaba, which reached over 50 million people and shaped the national dialogue on sustainable food systems.
Through the Environmental Entrepreneur Support Initiative (EESI), we empowered young leaders to tackle food insecurity and climate adaptation, creating transformative projects like food gardens at early childhood centres in Langa.
We also led the way in AfriFOODlinks, a four-year, €12 million initiative impacting 65 African and European cities, pioneering innovative urban food experiments in waste management and nutrition.
These are just some of the information highlighted in the annual report.
You will also read personal stories of farmers and partners whose lives have been touched by our initiatives, as well as insights into the challenges we’ve faced and lessons we’ve learned in our evolving approach to building a just and sustainable food system. It also sets out our vision for the future, with plans to deepen partnerships, scale innovative solutions, and inspire collective action.
This report reflects the dedication of our team, farmers, partners, and supporters who share our mission of addressing food insecurity and cultivating resilience in urban communities.
