The Spring Foundation launched yesterday the expanded Lentegeur Market Garden, with Premier Helen Zille as the guest of honour. The project was established by psychiatrist Dr John Parker “to provide mental health patients with an opportunity to rebuild, reconnect and rediscover their mental and physical well-being via agricultural psychosocial rehabilitation.” The SA Urban Food & Farming Trust played pivotal roles as funder, mentor and enabler, and we look forward to further growth and nurturing of the well-being of patients, community-members, plants and soil thanks to this remarkable initiative.
